Alfalfa
Medicago sativa
A flowering plant high in protein, calcium, and vitamins B and C. We use alfalfa to add natural color to our soaps.
Annatto
Bixa orellana
We use ground annatto seeds from the Achiote shrub to add natural color to our soaps.
Almonds
Prunus amygdalus dulcis
This edible nut is rich in Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids. Ground almonds add exfoliating and moisturizing properties to our soaps.
Apricot Kernel Oil
Prunus armeniaca Kernel Oil
Apricot kernel oil is pressed from the kernel of the apricot fruit. Known for its skin softening and moisturizing properties, it makes a great addition to some soaps.
Avocado Oil
Persea americana
Pressed from the edible avocado fruit, this oil is rich in vitamins A, E and omega-3 fatty acids. In soaps, this oil gives a luxurious, creamy feel.
Bananas, Banana Fruit Extract
Musa paradisiaca
This edible fruit is rich in potassium, vitamin C and vitamin B-6. Potassium and B-6 help to maintain hydrated skin. Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant. Banana is added to some products to help condition and soften skin and hair.
Barley Grass
Hordeum vulgare
Rich in chlorophyll and antioxidants, this dried and ground grass is used to add color to our soaps.
Beeswax
Cera alba
Our beeswax is filtered, raw, unrefined beeswax sourced directly from a local Arizona beekeeper. Natural beeswax helps to harden softer oils and butters to make lip balms and body butters last longer on your skin, helps to hold in moisture, and hardens soaps.
Benzoin Resin
Styrax benzoin
Also called Gum Benjamin, this syrup-like resin is a tree sap gathered by making incisions in the bark. Benzoin has a sweet, vanilla-like scent.
Blueberries
Vaccinium Corymbosum
These indigo-colored edible berries are rich in antioxidants, phytochemicals, and vitamins A and C, which may help to improve the appearance of skin. Blueberry puree adds a light scent and boosts the lather in our soaps.
Cacao
Theobroma cacao
Also known as Chocolate. Ground beans from the Cocoa tree are considered to be a rich source of antioxidants such as procyanidins and flavanoids. We use premium 100% cacao to add natural chocolate flavor, fragrance and color.
Calendula
Calendula officinalis
Calendula is an annual flowering plant, also commonly called Pot Marigold. It has a high flavanoid content and is believed to have antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, astringent, anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties. Calendula petals are infused in oils or added to our soap batter to give a natural pale yellow tint and light fragrance.
Organic Carrots
Daucus carota
Carrots are root vegetables that contain Beta carotene, a powerful antioxidant which may help in maintaining healthy skin. We use organic carrot puree to add natural color to our soaps.
Castor Oil
Ricinus communis
Castor oil is pressed from ripe castor plant seeds that have had their outer hull removed. This oil is high in ricinoleic acid, a fatty acid which some believe may have anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. Castor oil helps to create a smooth, stable, conditioning lather in soaps and helps to moisturize skin and hair.
Cedarwood Essential Oil
Juniperus virginian | Juniperus ashei / mexicana | Cedrus atlantica
These plant oils are added to our soaps for a natural warm, woodsy fragrance. Each variety of cedarwood has a slightly different scent.

Chia Seeds
Salvia Hispanica
Chia seeds are obtained from the dried flowers of a plant in the mint family that thrives in the warm climates of Mexico and western North America. Chia seeds are packed full of nutrients and protein, and contain antioxidants, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. When soaked in water, chia seeds produce a mucilage gel that acts as an emollient and conditioner, helping to moisturize and soften skin and hair.
Chlorophyll
Chlorophyll is a green pigment found in plants, used to add color to our soaps.
Cinnamon, Cinnamon Oil, Cassia (Chinese Cinnamon) Essential Oil
Cinnamomum zeylanicum, Cinnamomum cassia
Cinnamon is an evergreen tree; the bark is thought to have anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-bacterial and astringent properties. The warm, sweet scent may also repel insects like mosquitos, and is a commonly used spice in food and drinks. Cassia, also known as Chinese Cinnamon, has a similar but slightly warmer scent with almond notes. We use ground cinnamon to add a light fragrance and scrubby property to soaps. Cinnamon and Cassia essential oils adds fragrance and natural color to soaps.

Citric Acid
Citric acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that occurs naturally in citrus fruits. It is commonly used in cosmetics and to flavor candies and drinks. Citric acid is used to adjust the pH of some soaps. It also helps to reduce “soap scum” in hard water, can help to boost suds, and makes our soap bars harder so they last longer.
Cloves, Clove Oil
Syzygium aromaticum L.
Cloves are flower buds from an evergreen tree, believed to have antiseptic, anesthetic, anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties. They have a warm, spicy scent and are a commonly used cooking spice. We use ground cloves add a light fragrance and exfoliating properties to soaps; clove oil adds a spicy fragrance.

Cocoa Butter
Theobroma cacao
This edible butter extracted from cocoa beans has a smooth chocolaty fragrance and is rich in antioxidants. Cocoa butter is an excellent moisturizer, and helps to produce a hard, long lasting bar of soap.
Cocoa Powder (Organic)

Ground raw organic cocoa beans from the cocoa tree are used for natural chocolate fragrance and color.
Coconut Oil
Cocos nucifera
An edible oil extracted from coconuts. Coconut oil makes our soaps more bubbly and adds good cleansing properties as well as hardening the bar.
Coffee, Coffee Beans (Organic)
Coffea arabica
Organic ground coffee beans are used as a natural exfoliating scrub in our soaps. Exfoliating helps to remove dead skin cells from the surface, revealing the new, softer skin below. Some believe the antioxidants and caffeine in coffee may give skin a firmer, brighter appearance.
Distilled Aloe
Aloe barbadensis
Aloe plant leaves are widely used in skin products for their moisturizing and softening properties. Aloe is also thought to have anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties. We use distilled juice from Aloe Vera plants in some soaps to puree or dissolve other ingredients prior to mixing. We use distilled aloe rather than cheaper aloe gels or juices because it does not contain any added preservatives.
Distilled Water
Distilled water is used in some soap recipes to puree or dissolve other ingredients prior to mixing.
Eggs
Egg yolks help to produce a rich, thick lather, while egg whites may have an astringent effect. Eggs contain amino acids, minerals and vitamin A. The eggs used in our soaps come from our backyard pasture raised, free-ranging, happy hens.
Fenugreek
Trigonella foenum graecum
These edible seeds, also called Methi, are often used as a seasoning spice in Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine. The natural oils and mucilage in fenugreek seeds can help to moisturize dry skin, while ground seeds help to scrub and exfoliate. These seeds are also high in antioxidants, natural saponins, and some believe it may have anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial components. The sweet smelling ground seeds from this annual plant are added to soaps for natural fragrance and color.
Flax Seeds, Flax Seed Oil
Linum usitatissimum
Flax is an excellent moisturizing oil, rich in omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants.
Frankincense Oil
Commiphora myrrha
Frankincense essential oil originates from a small scraggly but hardy tree. The resin begins as a milky-white liquid that flows from the trunk of the tree when cut. The dried tears are collected, and the resin is then distilled, producing the precious oil. It has a warm, spicy, woodsy scent. Goat Milk
Raw goat milk straight from our farm is rich in vitamins and minerals, and comes from humanely pasture-raised happy goats. We do not used powdered or canned goat milk. The high cream content of our Nubian goat milk adds extra moisturizing properties to our soaps and creates a dense, creamy lather. Goat milk contains lactic acid, a natural alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), which can help cleanse by removing dead skin cells.
Grapeseed Oil
Vitis vinifera
This light oil is cold-pressed from grape seeds and is high in the omega-6 essential fatty acid, linoleic acid. This oil moisturizes without leaving a heavy, greasy feel.
Guar Gum
Cyamopsis tetragonoloba
Guar gum is a natural thickener made from ground seeds of the guar plant. It also aids in reducing frizz and detangling hair.
Hemp Seed Oil
Cannabis sativa
Hemp seed oil is pressed from the seeds of the hemp plant. This oil is rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, proteins and amino acids. It is high in both linoleic and linolenic essential fatty acids, which help to soften and condition skin. Hemp oil adds a soft, silky feeling to soaps, body butters and lip balms. It has a natural green tint and light fragrance similar to sunflower seeds. Hemp seed oil is not psychotropic, and is legal to use and sell in the US.
Honey
Honey is a natural humectant and adds moisturizing properties to soaps and lip balms. It is also rich in vitamins, minerals and enzymes, and is believed to have anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties. Honey is added to some soaps for a natural tan to orange color and to boost suds. We use only pure raw Arizona desert honey in our products, purchased directly from a local beekeeper. We do not use imported honey due to potential toxic substance contamination.
Indigo

Iron Oxides (Mineral Pigments)
Mineral pigments composed of iron and oxygen. These minerals occur naturally, but some mined versions may be contaminated with harmful substances such as arsenic or lead. As such, most mineral pigments used in cosmetics are recreated in a lab, replicating the process that occurs in nature to form the pigments. These are considered “naturally equivalent” pigments, since they are identical to the naturally occurring form.
Many soaps & cosmetics that are labeled “natural” contain mineral pigments that have been sprayed with artificial colors, such as D&C Red 33 or Blue Lake #2. We DO NOT use mineral pigments that have been sprayed with synthetic colors in any of our products.
Kokum Butter
Garcinia indica
Kokum Butter comes from the seeds of the Garcinia indicia tree indigenous to India. It is high in vitamin E and offers excellent emollient properties. When used in body butters, it is quickly absorbed into the skin without leaving a greasy feel. This butter adds a smooth feel to our soaps, and helps to make the bars harder.

Mango Butter
Mangifera indica Seed Butter
Mango butter is extracted from the fruit kernels of the mango tree. It is rich in antioxidants and emollients as well as Vitamins A and E, and can be used to soften and moisturize rough dry skin. It’s a hard, solid, stable butter that works great in soap, lip balm and moisturizers.
Marshmallow Root (Organic)

Ground roots from the marshmallow plant are hydrated and added to soaps to add skin softening and moisturizing properties along with natural color. When ground marshmallow root is soaked in water, a mucilage forms, similar to the mucilage found in flax and chia. This gel acts as a conditioner and can aid in locking in moisture on hair and skin. It can also help with detangling. Marshmallow candies were originally made using real marshmallow, but modern day marshmallows are not. We do not use marshmallow candy in our products, only the real, organic plant.

Myrrh Resin

The myrrh plant is classified as a shrub, but it can grow up to 30ft in height. It’s syrup-like resin is a sap gathered by making incisions in the bark of the plant. Myrrh has a rich, sweet & spicy, balsamic scent. It has been used as ingredient in perfumes & incense for centuries.
Natural Fragrance
Advances in technology have made it possible to extract fragrance components from fruits, vegetables, seeds, beans and plants that had not been possible in the past. These CO2 extracts, resins, and natural aroma compounds add natural scents to our soaps without the use of synthetics or added ingredients that may contain harmful substances. Our natural fragrances are 100% plant based, and do not contain any synthetic colors, fragrances, preservatives, fixatives or additives.
Niaouli Essential Oil
Melaleuca quinquenervia
Niaouli oil is steam distilled from the leaves and twigs of the tree, which is a relative of the Tea Tree. It has a fresh, clean scent similar to a blend of tea tree and eucalyptus that some describe as “minty”.

Oats / Oatmeal / Colloidal Oatmeal
Avena sativa
Oatmeal is derived from oat grains that are ground or crushed. Oats have been used in skin care for centuries to help soothe and moisturize the skin. We add ground oats to our soaps to mildly exfoliate and add a light, natural earthy scent. Colloidal oatmeal is a very finely ground oat powder.
Olive Oil
Olea europaea
Pressed from the whole fruit of the olive tree, this oil makes a very creamy and gentle bar of soap.
Orange Essential Oil
Citrus Sinensis
Orange essential oil is pressed from the peel of the orange, and smells just like the freshly peeled fruit. The oil is we use is then distilled to create a stronger, longer lasting scent. We use this oil to add a fresh scent and color to our products.
Orange Peel Wax
Citrus Aurantium Dulcis
Orange peels have a natural wax on them that protects the fruit from the environment and helps to hold in moisture. We use this natural wax to add emollient properties, a fruity orange scent, and natural color to our products.
Organic Fragrance
Certified organic fragrance oils contain organic fragrance compounds, natural isolates and oils that add natural scents to our soaps.
Paprika
Capsicum annum
A spice used to give soaps a natural orange color.
Peppermint Leaf
We infuse dried peppermint leaf in oils to add a fresh, minty fragrance to our soaps. Oils infused with peppermint leaf have a lighter mint scent than those that use essential oils.
Peppermint Essential Oil
Mentha arvensis, Mentha Piperita
Peppermint oil adds a fresh, minty fragrance to our soaps. We use two different species of peppermint leaf – Mentha Arvensis has a slightly more menthol-type scent, while Mentha piperita is sweeter and more candy-like. Peppermint oil has a slight cooling sensation when used on the skin.

Rosemary, Rosemary Essential Oil

Rosemary is a strong, fragrant evergreen shrub thought to have antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, astringent, anti-microbial, and antioxidant properties. Dried rosemary is a common cooking herb. Rosemary oil and dried rosemary are added to our soaps for natural fragrance.

Rosemary Oil Extract

Rosemary oil extract is a natural antioxidant extracted from rosemary plant leaves. It is not an essential oil, and doesn’t have a noticeable scent. Rosemary oil extract is added to some sensitive oils to keep them from oxidizing (spoiling).
Safflower Oil

Safflower oil is pressed from the seeds of the safflower plant. It is high in Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids, adding moisturizing and conditioning properties to our soaps.
Saponified Oil
Saponified oils are oils that have been turned into soap via the process of saponification.
Sea Salt
Natural sea salt helps to harden our soaps. It also acts as a humectant.
Shea Butter
Butyrospermum parkii Butter
Shea butter is extracted from the nut of the African shea tree. Shea butter is a thick, edible plant-based oil. It adds a smooth, creamy texture to our soaps along with additional moisturizing properties.
Sodium Hydroxide
Also known as lye, this alkali salt (or another type of lye, potassium hydroxide) is required to turn oils into soap. This process is called saponification. None remains in finished soap.
Soybean Oil

Sunflower Oil

Sunflower oil is cold pressed from sunflower seeds, and contains high amounts of Vitamins A, B, D and E, minerals, Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids. Sunflower Oil is a wonderful skin conditioner and gentle cleanser when used in soaps.
Sweet Almond Oil

Pressed from the edible type of almond nuts, this oil is rich in Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids. This light oil adds moisturizing properties to our soaps.
Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is extracted from the leaves of the tea tree, or melaleuca tree. It has strong woodsy-minty fragrance and is thought to have potent anti-microbial properties. A naturally occurring mineral pigment, often used to color foods as well as cosmetics.
Turmeric

An edible spice used to add natural color to our soaps.
Tussah Silk
Silk Amino Acids
These real silk fibers are added to some soaps to add an extra silky smooth feeling and a slight sheen. Our supplier states this silk has been humanely harvested; the empty silk cocoons are collected after the silk worms have transformed and flied off.
Vanilla Beans (Raw, Organic)
Vanilla planifolia
Vanilla beans are the fruit of the delicate vanilla plant, a member of the orchid family. The raw beans contain trace minerals, magnesium, and potassium. We use raw, organic vanilla beans to add a light vanilla scent and light exfoliating properties in our soaps. Many cosmetic and soap manufacturers use by-product vanilla beans that have have their flavor/scent extracted for use in other products. We choose to use food-grade organic vanilla beans instead, because we know they don’t contain traces of chemicals that may have been used to process them for other purposes.
Vanillin (Natural)
Vanillin is one of the many aroma compounds found naturally in vanilla beans, and is the “ingredient” most recognized as the vanilla scent in the beans. Vanillin also occurs naturally in many other plants at lower concentrations. It adds a sweet, warm, rich note to many of our scent blends. The vanillin used in our products is naturally sourced from plants and is food grade organic-compliant (eg: this vanillin can be used in organic foods, labelled as “natural flavor”). We do not use synthetic vanillin, which may be produced from petrochemicals or waste products of the paper industry.
Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an anti-oxidant found in many plant oils, and is an important nutrient for skin. It is used to help extend the shelf life of oils and can also aid in softening skin.
Wheat Grass

This plant is rich in chlorophyll, amino acids, vitamins and minerals. We use it to add natural color to our soaps.
Wintergreen Oil

Wintergreen is a small shrub native to North America, but grown throughout the world. Wintergreen oil adds a fresh, minty fragrance to our soaps.
